Who we are
The Valuation Appeal Committees (VACs) which hear appeals are drawn from separate Valuation Appeal Panels established in respect of each Valuation Area (with Glasgow combined with Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute for this purpose). The members of each Panel are lay persons who reside or have business or employment within the Valuation Area and are appointed by the Sheriff Principal.
The SVAC Forum is an umbrella body representing all of Scotland’s Valuation Appeal Panels and the individual Valuation Appeal Committees drawn from them. The Forum has arranged for this website to be developed as a service to all VACs and the substantive information provided by VACs remains the responsibility of the individual VACs.
The purpose of this website is threefold.
First, it makes available the information provided by VACs concerning future hearings involving rating cases.
Second, it directs users to further information concerning the appeal process. This is likely to be of most use to ratepayers who are contemplating appealing without using the services of a professional agent.
Third, it makes available the decisions of Committees across the country in cases arising from the Valuation Roll in force following the 2017 Revaluation and running until 2022.
